Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity Receives House Sponsorship from BP
Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity is extremely excited to announce that BP America has generously donated $75,000.00 to sponsor the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home in Gray. The home, which will be located at 165 Bon Jovi Boulevard, is scheduled for completion in a few months. “Having a company such as BP make a donation of this size is a tremendous boost for the affiliate,” said Jeremy Becker, Executive Director of Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity. “We have been blessed to have the support of so many local companies since the hurricanes and we are grateful to now have BP join us in our rebuilding efforts.” Reverend Wilmer Todd, Habitat Board President added, “I would like to thank BP for their generous financial contribution as sponsors of the house and in assisting us in providing simple, decent, affordable housing for those in need.” The BP sponsored home will be for Henrietta Evans, who is a mother of two along with being the grandmother of two. Evans is a former New Orleans resident that lost her home in Hurricane Katrina and has enjoyed meeting the many volunteers while she has been volunteering at the construction site. Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity relies on local funding to build Habitat homes in Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes and considers itself responsible to all contributors by being wise stewards of the funds entrusted to the affiliate. Each gift made helps a family in need of decent affordable shelter. It is because of donors such as BP, Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity is able to continue its mission of making homeownership a reality for people with a need. "We support Habitat for Humanity with employee volunteer efforts and financial contributions" said John Huston, BP operations project manager. "Habitat delivers sustainable value to so many communities and we are proud to be a part the Houma project"
The current pace of construction for Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity requires many volunteers on a weekly basis and donations to be made to assist with construction costs. Volunteers, both skilled and unskilled, can register and donations can be made online at www.bayouhabitat.org or by calling the Bayou Area Habitat office at 985-447-6999. |
