Spend A Night on Broadway with Mr. Habitat

Bayou Area Habitat for Humanity invites you to spend a night on Broadway during the affiliate's annual Mr. Habitat Contest. The Mr. Habitat Contest, which is presented this year in partnership with BP's Houma Operations Learning Center, will be held Thursday, July 16th at the Cypress Columns in Gray.

The Mr. Habitat Contest is a night of fun as (10) local gentlemen from our local community compete for the prestigious title of Mr. Habitat. Loosely based as a reverse beauty pageant, the contestants compete in different events while dressed as their favorite Broadway character.

While enjoying the show, you can please your palate as  several local restaurants supply the food. In addition, the contest also features a live and silent auction which includes your choice of casino, spa, golf and hotel packages to name a few.

For ticketing information please contact [ Jarrett Hawkins ] at (985) 447-6999.

Bayou Area Habitat Dedicates Two Habitat Homes in One Week

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of both local and national volunteers, Bayou Area Habitat was able to dedicate two homes to deserving families the week of May 17th.

The Parfait Family , Stormy and daughter Samiya received the keys to their new Habitat home Thursday, May 21st. The home is located in the Angel's Place Subdivision in Gray.

The following day, the affiliate dedicated David & Bernedette Jordan's Habitat Home. A year prior to her home dedication, Bernedette stood in her uncompleted kitchen waving to volunteers and saying, "This is my kitchen!!!" Because of the hard work of hundreds of volunteers, donors and local businesses Bernedette is able to stand in her completed Habitat home.

Both the Jordan and Parfait's home are part of the affiliate's "Building Blitz on the Bayou" project for families affected by hurricanes. If you would like to learn more about how you can help in the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home please contact the Habitat Offices at (985) 447-6999 or click [ here ] .

Construction Continues on Women Build Home

This week the affiliate gained a hearty group of volunteers from SUNY-Plattsburgh as well as some returning volunteers who were all more than anxious to get to work on building homes for members of our community. At this time several contractors are starting working on the plumbing, electrical and roofing of Jenise’s Habitat home.
